Description

The Knightsbridge GU10 spike light is a 230V outdoor spotlight built from light-gauge 304 stainless steel with a clear glass lens and an IP65 weatherproof rating. The cylindrical body houses a standard GU10 lamp holder (bulb sold separately) and rotates on a spike mount, allowing the beam to be angled upwards to wash walls or facades, or downwards to graze pathways and borders.

Designed for garden borders, pathway edging, facade lighting and feature tree uplighting, the spike pushes into soil, bark mulch or gravel beds without needing to excavate for a ground box. The pre-wired 2m outdoor-rated cable exits the rear of the head and runs underground or through planting to connect to a suitable outdoor junction box or transformer. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making the fitting suitable for year-round outdoor use in exposed positions.

The 60mm diameter head and 95mm body length keep the fitting compact enough to tuck behind border planting or gravel, while the stainless steel construction resists corrosion in damp soil conditions. The spike accepts both halogen and LED GU10 lamps up to 35W maximum — most users fit a 4-7W LED GU10 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for pathway lighting or a higher-output 10W LED for wall washing and feature uplighting.

Does it come with a GU10 bulb?

No. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 halogen or LED bulb up to 35W maximum. Most users choose a 4-7W LED GU10 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for pathway or border lighting, or a 10W LED for brighter feature uplighting.

Can it be used in wet soil conditions?

Yes. The IP65 rating protects against dust and low-pressure water jets, making the spike suitable for year-round outdoor use including damp soil, border planting and exposed garden positions. The 304 stainless steel construction resists corrosion in moisture.

How is the 2m cable connected to mains power?

The pre-wired 2m cable must be connected to a suitable outdoor-rated junction box, transformer or power supply via waterproof connectors. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in compliance with Part P Building Regulations and BS 7671 Wiring Regulations.

Can the angle of the light be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The cylindrical head rotates on the spike mount, allowing the beam direction to be adjusted upwards for wall washing or downwards for pathway grazing after the spike has been pushed into the ground.
