This GU10 LED spotlight bulb is a directional mains-voltage lamp that twist-locks straight into a standard GU10 holder, so there is no transformer to fit. It draws just 6.5 W yet replaces a much older 86 W bulb, giving 540 lumens at 4000K cool white. The PAR16 spot shape throws a tight 36 degree beam, sending a controlled cone of light onto whatever sits below it rather than spreading it broadly across a room. Across the Atlantic this is the bi-pin reflector lamp many call a PAR16 or simply a GU10 spot, and the format is the same on either side.

The 36 degree beam suits accent and task work where a defined pool of light matters more than wide ambient fill, such as picking out a worktop run, a shelf display, a piece of art or a reading chair. Several spaced through a kitchen, hallway or living room give layered, repeatable spots, and the IQ-LED engine carries an Ra 95 colour rendering figure so colours, finishes and skin tones read accurately under it. Because the throw is narrow and directional, plan spacing around the area you want lit rather than treating one lamp as whole-room coverage. The cool white 4000K tone reads crisp and neutral, which works well in kitchens, studies and retail-style display fittings.

Built on a 6.5 W IQ-LED platform rated at 89 lm/W, the lamp runs on 220-240V AC mains through its GU10 twist-lock cap and needs no separate driver. It measures Ø50 by 57 mm with a silver finish and weighs 38 g, dropping into the standard GU10 fittings already in most homes and shops. The IP20 build is for dry indoor use only. Which fitting does this bulb need?

It uses a GU10 twist-lock cap, the standard mains-voltage spotlight fitting. You push it into the holder and twist a quarter turn to lock. No transformer or separate driver is required, as it runs directly on 220-240V mains.

What old bulb wattage does it replace?

It draws only 6.5 W but gives the output of a much older 86 W bulb, at 540 lumens. The LED itself uses just 6.5 W, so it is the equivalent brightness at a fraction of the running cost.

Is this bulb dimmable?

No, this is a non-dimmable lamp, so it should be used on a standard on/off circuit rather than a dimmer switch. Pairing a non-dimmable bulb with a dimmer can cause flicker or buzzing and may shorten its life.
