Description

The Gosmelle is a slim, round LED downlight that sits recessed into the ceiling, so only a neat ring and a softly glowing disc show once it is fitted. The ring is steel in a satin nickel finish with a fine brushed texture, framing a white plastic diffuser, and the whole face measures 8.6cm in diameter. The LED is integrated, drawing 2.7W and giving 330lm of cool white light at 4000K. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in dry rooms only.

Cool white at 4000K is a clear, crisp light, good for places where you want to see properly: a hallway, a landing, a living room, a study or a corridor lined with pictures. Because each downlight is small, several work well in a row or a grid, spreading an even light across a ceiling with no hanging fitting in the way. The satin nickel ring sits comfortably alongside brushed metal door handles, switch plates and grey or white schemes, and looks more finished than a plain white circle. It suits anyone updating a ceiling who wants crisp, practical light with a touch of metal.

The light is not dimmable and has no switch of its own, so it runs from an ordinary wall switch on mains power at 220-240V, 50/60Hz. It needs a 7.5cm cut-out in the ceiling and 2.6cm of recess depth, which makes it useful where there is little room in the ceiling void. As a wired mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. It weighs 0.16KG packed and carries energy class E. Before any hole is cut, measure for that 7.5cm opening and check the void gives the 2.6cm of depth the light needs.
