Description
The Glide is a 46cm outdoor spike light with a graphite-finished aluminium body, a clear glass cylinder head and a G9 bulb fitting rated to 20W. The ground spike pushes into soil, gravel or grass to provide pathway lighting, driveway markers or accent lighting around garden features. The IP54 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exposed garden positions.
Designed for pathway edging, driveway borders and planting bed accent lighting, the Glide sits low enough to avoid head-height glare while casting light downward onto the path surface or upward through the glass cylinder depending on bulb choice. The 4cm diameter cylinder keeps the fitting visually discreet during daylight, and the graphite finish blends with darker paving, gravel and foliage backgrounds. The fitting accepts G9 capsule bulbs (sold separately), allowing choice between halogen, LED or warm-white options.
The aluminium construction resists corrosion in wet conditions, and the glass cylinder is thick enough to withstand incidental contact from garden tools or foot traffic without cracking. The 46cm total height includes approximately 15-20cm of spike below ground depending on soil firmness, leaving 26-31cm above ground once installed. The graphite powder-coat finish is UV-stable and will not fade under sunlight exposure over typical outdoor seasons.

Frequently Asked
Does it come with a bulb?
No. The fitting takes a G9 capsule bulb up to 20W, sold separately. Most users install a warm-white LED G9 bulb between 2-4W and 2700K-3000K for pathway lighting.
How deep does the spike need to go?
The spike portion is approximately 15-20cm long and should be pushed fully into soil or gravel for stability. In very hard ground you may need to create a pilot hole with a metal rod before inserting the spike.
Can it be used in winter?
Yes. The IP54 rating protects against rain and moisture, and the aluminium construction will not crack in frost. However, the ground spike may lift slightly in freeze-thaw cycles in heavy clay soil, so check stability in early spring.
What cable connection does it use?
The fitting is mains-powered at AC 100-240V and requires connection to an outdoor-rated cable run from a protected supply, typically via an IP-rated junction box buried near the installation point. This is not a plug-in fitting and should be installed by a qualified electrician.
