This is a pair of side tables in reclaimed wood, sold together as a set of two, with a waxed finish over timber that still shows its saw marks, knots and grain. The taller table is 40cm wide, 36cm long and 57cm tall; the lower one is 40cm wide, 26cm long and 50cm tall. Each stands on four straight, square legs joined by rails close to the floor, so the frame looks plain and solid. Reclaimed wood carries the marks of its earlier life, so the grain and markings on each brown table vary from piece to piece.

The lower table tucks partly beneath the taller one, so the pair can stand together to save floor space and then come apart when you want a surface on both sides of a sofa. In the living room they sit beside a sofa or an armchair, holding a reading lamp, a stack of books or a vase of flowers at two heights. Either one works at the side of a bed in place of a bedside table, and in a hallway the taller table makes a resting place for keys and post while the lower one holds a cushion or a basket. They suit anyone furnishing a small flat or a cottage sitting room who likes wood with some history in it.

The tables are 98% reclaimed wood and 2% iron, and the legs are the same brown reclaimed wood as the tops.
