Description

A compact LED capsule on a G4 pin base, made for the small pockets where halogen capsules once went. It draws 2W and gives around 190 lumens of warm white at 3000K, a soft, slightly golden light rather than a clinical one. The casing is white, and the output spreads broadly from the head instead of throwing a narrow beam. This one does not dim, so it belongs on a plain switched circuit.

Capsules this size turn up in more places than most lamps: multi-arm glass chandeliers, small pendants, mirror lights, display cabinets, shelf lights and the shallow recesses of furniture lighting. The wide spread suits fittings with clear glass or crystal, where a tight beam would read as a hot spot on the shade. Keep it to dry rooms indoors, so living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms and hallways rather than anywhere open to weather or splashing. Working through a chandelier with a lot of holders, this is the lamp we would order as a full set, so the colour stays even across the whole fitting.

The white casing stays discreet behind clear glass and vanishes into most holders once the light is on. Cleaning asks very little: power off, lamp cool, a dry cloth over the body, nothing damp and no sprays. It carries a two year warranty. The LED is fixed inside the body, so the lamp is simply replaced when it eventually fails.
