Description

The Funk is a sculptural wall light built around a double-cone metal shade finished in matt black on the outside and a beaten gold leaf on the inside. The shade mounts to a 100mm circular wall plate via a short fixed arm, with a small brass push switch set into the lower edge of the plate for local on/off control. A single E27 lamp socket sits inside the lower cone, throwing warm reflected light off the textured gold interior.

At 28.5cm tall and 22.5cm wide, the Funk suits bedside walls in place of a table lamp, hallway runs where floor space is tight, and living room alcoves used for accent lighting. The integrated brass switch means it can be wired into a fused spur without needing a separate wall switch, which is useful for retrofit installations beside a bed or sofa where adding a new switched circuit would be disruptive.

The double-cone silhouette is a recognisable mid-century industrial form, with the upper cone acting as a counterweight to the larger downward-facing shade. The matt black exterior keeps reflections low under daylight, while the hammered gold interior catches light from the bulb and casts a warmer tone than a plain white reflector would. The fitting takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. An E27 GLS filament bulb suits the industrial style of the shade, and a warm 2700K LED filament between 4-8W gives a comfortable bedside or hallway light level.

Yes. A small brass push switch is built into the lower edge of the wall plate, allowing the light to be turned on and off locally without needing a separate wall switch on the circuit.

Can the shade be angled?

The shade sits on a fixed arm and is set in a downward-facing position, so it cannot be tilted or rotated after installation. The light pattern is directed downwards onto the wall and surface below.

Where does it work best?
