Description

The Funk is a wall-mounted spot light with a sculptural hourglass-shaped metal shade in matt gold, fixed to a circular black wall plate by a short black stem. The shade tapers from a narrow waist out to a 22.5cm-wide cone, exposing a beaten gold interior that reflects warm light from a single E27 bulb (sold separately). A small brass thumb-switch on the underside of the wall plate turns the fitting on and off independently of the wall switch.

The fitting suits bedside reading positions, hallway niches, lounge alcoves and stairwell walls where directed downward light is wanted alongside a decorative shape. Mounted at around 1.4-1.5m above floor level, the cone projects a defined pool of warm light beneath while the upward flute throws a softer secondary glow back onto the ceiling. The integrated rocker switch on the back plate makes it practical as a bedside light without needing a wired wall switch nearby.

The body is metal throughout, with a low-sheen matt gold exterior and a hammered, beaten-finish interior that catches and breaks up the light from the bulb so the inside of the cone glows rather than glaring. The matt black wall plate and stem provide a deliberate contrast against the gold and pair the fitting with industrial, mid-century and contemporary interiors. At 28.5cm tall and 22.5cm wide, the Funk is sized for single mounting beside a bed or grouped in pairs on a feature wall.

What bulb does it take?

The Funk takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. An E27 GLS filament bulb suits the industrial style of the fitting, and a warm-white 2700K LED filament between 4-8W gives a comfortable bedside or hallway light level.

Does it have its own switch?

Yes. There is a small brass thumb-switch on the underside of the black wall plate that turns the fitting on and off independently. This makes it usable as a bedside reading light without needing a separate wired wall switch.

Can it be wall-mounted in a bathroom?

No IP rating is listed in the specification, so the Funk should be treated as an indoor, dry-location fitting and is not suitable for bathroom zones or external use.

Does the shade rotate or tilt?

The shade is fixed in its downward-cone orientation on a short black stem and is not designed to be adjusted after installation. Light is directed primarily down from the lower cone, with a softer upward wash from the inverted flute above the waist.
