Description
The Fracture is a 170x110cm wall-mounted sculptural piece composed of curved stainless steel sheets finished in a reflective gold plating. Each sheet is angled at a different plane, creating a jagged, overlapping composition that projects up to 20cm from the wall. The gold surfaces catch directional light from windows and overhead fittings, shifting in tone and intensity throughout the day as light moves across the room.
Designed for installation above sofas, in double-height entrance halls, or on corridor walls where vertical or horizontal mounting is possible, the Fracture works as the primary visual anchor in a space. The 170cm width suits walls of 2.5-3m or wider, giving the piece breathing room on either side. At 9.2kg, the sculpture requires secure wall fixings — typically heavy-duty picture hooks rated for 12kg+ or direct screwing into masonry anchors.
The gold plating on the stainless steel has a high-polish finish that reflects both warm and cool light, making it compatible with a range of lighting schemes from 2700K warm whites to 4000K neutrals. The layered construction creates shadow patterns on the wall behind, adding secondary depth to the piece. The irregular geometry references fractured geological formations or abstracted foliage, depending on viewing angle and distance.
Each curved sheet is individually formed and welded to the mounting plate on the reverse, giving the sculpture structural integrity without visible fixings from the front. The 20cm projection means the piece needs clearance from furniture positioned below — typically 15-20cm minimum gap between the lowest protruding sheet and a sofa back or sideboard top.

Frequently Asked
Can the Fracture be mounted vertically or horizontally?
Yes. The piece can be hung in either orientation depending on wall space and ceiling height. Vertical mounting suits narrow, tall walls in hallways or staircases, while horizontal mounting works above sofas or sideboards.
What fixings are needed for a 9.2kg wall sculpture?
Heavy-duty picture hooks rated for at least 12kg or direct masonry anchors are recommended. The mounting plate on the reverse of the sculpture typically has two or more fixing points. Installation by a professional fitter is advisable for plasterboard walls without stud support.
Does the gold finish tarnish or require polishing?
The gold plating on stainless steel is more stable than brass or copper finishes and resists tarnishing under normal indoor conditions. Dust can be removed with a dry microfibre cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes that may scratch the reflective surface.
What wall colour works with reflective gold metal?
The Fracture pairs well with neutral walls in white, off-white, light grey or warm beige tones that allow the gold to stand out. Darker walls in charcoal or navy create stronger contrast and emphasise the sculpture's depth and shadow play.
