Description

The Fort Smart Alarm Pet PIR is a wireless passive infrared motion sensor designed to detect human movement while ignoring pets up to 25kg. The dual-zone sensing array distinguishes between the heat signature and movement pattern of a person and that of a dog or cat, reducing false alarms in homes with animals. The sensor communicates wirelessly with Fort smart alarm control panels and runs on battery power, eliminating the need for mains wiring.

Designed for residential burglar alarm installations, the PIR mounts on internal walls at a height of 2-2.4m to give optimal coverage of a room or hallway. The 123mm height and 67mm width body sits discreetly in corners or on feature walls without dominating the space. The sensor monitors a detection zone of approximately 12m range with a 110-degree horizontal coverage angle, making it suitable for living rooms, hallways, landings and ground-floor entry points in typical UK homes.

The white ABS housing weighs 108g and contains the PIR sensor array, wireless transmitter module and battery compartment. Battery life depends on the number of triggers per day but typically extends to 12-18 months under normal residential use. The sensor transmits an alert to the control panel when motion is detected within the zone, and also sends low-battery warnings before the power supply becomes critical. Installation requires no drilling for cables, only two wall fixings for the mounting bracket.
