Fletcher 14" Flush Ceiling Light - Aged Brass With Ivory Shade

The Fletcher is a 356mm diameter flush ceiling light combining an ivory faux silk drum shade with an aged brass central finial and white acrylic diffuser beneath. The fitting mounts directly to the ceiling rose with a total drop of 252mm from ceiling to bottom of shade, making it suited to rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3-2.5m where a pendant would hang too low. Three E27 bulbs (sold separately) sit inside the drum and diffuse through both the white acrylic base and the ivory fabric, creating soft ambient light rather than directed task light.

Designed for bedrooms, hallways, smaller lounges and dining rooms with lower ceilings, the Fletcher works where space above head height is limited but overhead ambient light is still needed. The flush mount design means there's no chain or rod extending down into the room, so the fitting sits close to the ceiling plane. The white acrylic diffuser spreads light evenly across the ceiling and down into the room, avoiding the harsh centre-point glare of an undiffused bulb cluster.

The aged brass finial at the centre of the drum provides a warm metallic accent that pairs with brass door furniture, warm oak or walnut timber, and traditional or transitional interior schemes. The ivory faux silk shade has a subtle horizontal weave texture visible when lit, softening the light output and adding visual warmth compared to a plain white cotton or linen shade. The 356mm diameter covers a standard UK ceiling rose and the combined shade, diffuser and finial give the fitting a finished weight and presence that reads as substantial rather than lightweight.

The Fletcher is part of Designer's Lightbox's flush ceiling range and uses standard UK wiring compatible with most domestic ceiling roses. The aged brass finish develops a darker patina over time in high-humidity environments such as bathrooms, though this fitting is not IP-rated and should only be used in dry interior locations.

What ceiling height does the Fletcher suit?

The 252mm total drop works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.3m or above. In rooms with ceilings below 2.3m the fitting will still function but may feel visually heavy. The flush mount design is specifically chosen for rooms where a pendant would hang too low.

What bulbs does it take?

The Fletcher takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient bedroom or lounge lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmer compatibility depends on the bulbs chosen and the dimmer switch fitted. LED bulbs must be marked as dimmable and paired with an LED-compatible trailing-edge dimmer. Incandescent and halogen bulbs work with standard dimmers.

Can the shade be cleaned?

The ivory faux silk shade can be dusted with a soft brush or vacuumed gently on low power using an upholstery attachment. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the fabric or using household sprays.
