Description

Our Flermanne wall light pairs a faceted steel shade with a curved arm and a round wall plate, all finished in black. The shade is built from angled triangular panels with open gaps between them, and the inside of each panel carries an antique copper coloured finish that catches the light from the bulb. It is 16cm long and 31.5cm high, and it stands 22.5cm out from the wall. The fitting takes one E27 bulb of up to 60W, and the bulb is not included. With an IP20 rating it is made for dry rooms indoors, so it stays away from bathrooms and outdoor walls.

It looks at home beside a sofa in a living room, either side of a bed, along a hallway or at the top of a staircase, anywhere you want a pool of light at wall height rather than overhead. The black and copper pairing sits comfortably with dark wood, leather and exposed brick, and it gives an industrial note to a plain painted wall. Because the bulb stays visible through the open panels, a decorative filament bulb with amber glass suits it well and adds to the vintage look. Two of them, one either side of a mirror or a headboard, frame the space neatly.

The body is steel throughout, and the antique copper coloured lining has a brushed, aged look that contrasts with the matt black outer faces. There is no switch on the fitting itself; it is switched at the wall, so it comes on with the room's light switch. It runs on a 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains supply and weighs 0.883KG packed. As a wired-in mains light, it should be fitted by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download.
