Description

Fix is a floor lamp in black. A very slim black stem rising tall from a low round black base, splitting near the top into two black goosenecks that curve out and up, each carrying a small flat round head that faces the ceiling. The heads are thin discs with lit faces and no bulb visible, so what reaches the room is bounced off the ceiling. A small moulded collar marks where the stem divides. The base is a low dome with a wide flat foot. Everything is the same fine matt black. It measures 10cm across.

It stands beside a chair or at the end of a sofa, where it puts one pool of light exactly where it is needed without lighting the whole space. That is what a floor lamp is for: it takes the reading light off the ceiling and puts it at shoulder height, so the room can be lit softly and still be worked in.

The LED is built in at 5W, so there is no bulb to buy and none to fit. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms. It carries a G energy label.

Do I need to buy a bulb?

No. The LED is built into the fitting, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to fit.

What happens when the LED fails?

The fitting is replaced rather than relamped. At 5W and normal domestic use that is many years away.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
