Description

The Firvette is a two light outdoor wall light built around a fluted cylinder, finished in a warm rust colour and mounted on a round wall plate. The body is aluminium and the shade is clear glass, and the light leaves the cylinder in two directions, up and down, to wash the wall with a pair of beams. It stands 20cm tall, has a length of 6cm and projects 11cm from the wall, a compact size that sits neatly beside a door. It is rated IP44, which means it is protected from splashing water, so it can live outdoors on a house wall or in the garden.

We like it by a front door, on either side of a garage or along a garden wall, where the up and down beams pick out brick, render or timber cladding. The rust finish has an earthy tone that sits comfortably beside natural stone, weathered wood and planting, and the fluted cylinder gives a crisp, architectural shape rather than a traditional lantern. Fitted in pairs or in a row, it gives a path or a terrace a steady rhythm of light after dark, and because it takes standard GU10 bulbs, you choose the warmth and brightness that suit your home.

It takes two GU10 bulbs, each up to 28W, and the bulbs are not included, so you can choose the lamps you prefer. There is no switch on the light itself, because it is switched at the wall. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and as a wired light it should be installed by a qualified electrician. Packed, it weighs 0.592KG, so it is light to handle on a ladder. The installation instructions come as a PDF download, so you and your electrician can read them before the day of fitting.
