Description

The FireNova is a fire-rated tilt downlight with a brushed chrome bezel, open-back construction and a 20° tilt mechanism for directed beam positioning. The fitting accepts GU10 LED lamps up to 7W (sold separately) and meets 30/60/90 minute fire rating for solid wood joists, and 30 minutes for metal web and I-joists. The open-back design removes the traditional enclosed can, improving heat dissipation and extending lamp life.

Designed for residential and commercial ceilings where fire-rated downlights are required by Building Regulations, the FireNova fits a 75mm cut-out and requires 120mm minimum void depth above the ceiling. The tilt mechanism allows the beam to be angled up to 20° from vertical, making it suitable for accent lighting onto walls, artwork or architectural features, or for task lighting where the beam needs to be directed away from the centre of the room. The loop-in/loop-out terminals allow multiple fittings to be chained without additional junction boxes.

The brushed chrome finish provides a neutral metallic appearance that pairs with both warm and cool-toned interiors. The pressed steel construction keeps the fitting lightweight at under 200g, and the 3mm projection from the ceiling gives a low-profile finish once installed. The IP20 rating makes this suitable for dry internal locations including living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and offices. For installation under loft insulation, pair with the FireNova insulation bridge accessory (sold separately) to maintain the fire rating and prevent contact with insulation material.

The FireNova takes a GU10 LED bulb up to 7W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W warm-white GU10 LED at 2700K-3000K for general downlighting, or 4000K for task lighting in kitchens and home offices.

What fire rating does it carry?

The fitting is certified to 30/60/90 minutes for solid wood joists, and 30 minutes for metal web and I-joists. Installation must follow the manufacturer's instructions to maintain the fire rating. For installation under loft insulation, use the FireNova insulation bridge accessory to preserve the rating.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

A minimum 120mm void above the ceiling is required for safe installation. The fitting's recessed depth is 67mm, but the fire-rating mechanism and heat dissipation both depend on adequate air space around the fitting.

Can it be used in bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating makes this suitable only for dry internal locations. For bathrooms, use an IP65-rated downlight designed for Zone 1 or Zone 2 installation depending on proximity to the shower or bath.
