Description
The FireNova LD is a fire-rated tilt downlight with a 67mm recessed depth, designed for ceiling voids too shallow to accommodate standard downlight housings. The open-back pressed steel body tilts to direct a GU10 bulb (sold separately) at an angle, allowing accent lighting or wall-washing from a recessed ceiling position. A matt white magnetic bezel clips onto the front of the housing, with alternative finishes available separately.
Fire-tested to 30/60/90 minutes on solid wood joists and 30 minutes on metal web and I-joists, the FireNova meets UK Building Regulations for protected ceilings without additional intumescent hoods or cavity barriers. The tilt mechanism allows the lamp to be angled after installation, making it useful for lighting artwork, architectural features, or directing task light onto kitchen worktops from a ceiling-mounted position. The 72mm cut-out fits between standard 400mm joist centres.
The housing uses push-fit loop-in/loop-out terminals that accept up to 2.5mm² cable without requiring a screwdriver, speeding installation on multi-downlight runs. The magnetic bezel system allows the face plate to be removed for redecorating or bulb changes without unscrewing or disturbing the wiring. The IP20 rating limits the fitting to dry internal rooms — bathrooms and wet rooms require higher-rated alternatives.
The low-depth design reduces the minimum void requirement to 120mm, compared to 150mm+ for many standard fire-rated downlights. This makes the FireNova LD a retrofit option in older properties with shallow floor-to-ceiling constructions, loft conversions with limited depth above plasterboard, and commercial fit-outs where services already occupy most of the ceiling void. Optional insulation bridge accessories (sold separately) allow the downlight to be covered by loft insulation without compromising fire rating or thermal performance.

Frequently Asked
What ceiling void depth is needed?
The FireNova LD requires a minimum 120mm void depth from the underside of the plasterboard to the top surface above. The recessed depth of the fitting itself is 67mm, with additional clearance needed for the GU10 bulb and wiring connections.
Does it include a bulb?
No. The downlight takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 7W (sold separately). Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in 2700K-3000K warm white for general lighting, or 4000K for kitchens and task areas.
Can the tilt angle be adjusted after installation?
Yes. The lamp holder tilts within the housing, allowing the GU10 bulb to be angled after the downlight is fitted. This makes it useful for directing light onto walls, artwork or work surfaces rather than straight down.
What other bezel finishes are available?
The included bezel is matt white. Knightsbridge produces magnetic replacement bezels in matt black, brushed chrome, polished chrome, polished brass and antique brass, sold separately. The magnetic fixing allows bezels to be swapped without rewiring.
