Description
Fardin is a children's play tent in woven cotton on an iron frame, in a soft natural shade that sits easily in a nursery, a bedroom or a family room. The poles meet at the top in a classic tipi shape, their tips finished with small fabric flags, and soft tassels hang from the peak and along the edges of the tall triangular doorway. One side carries a knotted panel with a long fringe, which gives the plain cotton a little texture. It measures 110cm long, 110cm wide and 140cm tall.
Plan for a patch of floor 110cm by 110cm, which fits beside a bed, in the corner of a playroom or against a living room wall. At 140cm tall there is room for a child to sit up inside among cushions and books, and the wide doorway makes it easy to crawl in and out. It works as a reading nook, a den for make-believe games or a quiet spot to retreat to when the house gets busy. On a dry summer day it can go out onto the lawn, and at 2.7KG one adult can lift it and carry it from room to room.
The walls are woven cotton with no filling, held up by iron poles that cross at the peak. The tent needs putting together, and the maker's assembly instructions come as a PDF download. For care, the maker says the tent should not be machine dried or ironed, so smooth out any creases by hand once it is standing. To finish it, lay a padded mat or a pile of floor cushions inside, hang a string of bunting nearby and keep a basket of books by the doorway so it becomes the favourite spot in the room. The styling props shown are not included.
