Description
The EXIN is a recessed LED step light built into a compact 80 × 80 mm square face, drawing just 2.5W from a 220-240V AC supply to deliver 50 lumens at a 4000K cool white tone. A built-in PIR sensor brings the light up as someone approaches, so it stays off until movement is detected and then marks the step or path edge clearly. Across the Atlantic a low-level marker fitting like this is usually called a step light too, and the term carries over directly. The fixed cool white colour gives a crisp, neutral wash rather than a warm glow, which suits a clean architectural finish.
Designed for outdoor walls, the EXIN recesses into the structure to throw light downward and across nearby steps, thresholds and low retaining walls. Because it is a directional marker rather than ambient room lighting, its job is to define an edge and light the immediate tread underfoot, not to fill a space, so think of it as a pool of guidance light at each fitting rather than coverage measured by area. Mounted at shin or ankle height along a flight of steps, a run of these picks out each level and the PIR keeps them dormant until needed. The 4000K output reads clearly against stone, render and timber.
The body is aluminium alloy in a black finish, rated IP65 so it withstands exposed outdoor and wet locations including direct rain. It recesses into the wall via a back box set into the structure, sitting flush once installed. The integrated PIR is part of the fitting, and the LED is built in rather than using a replaceable lamp. This fitting is not dimmable, and the rated lifespan is 30,000 hours. The EXIN sits within a wider range of recessed markers, so matching units can be specified along a single flight or run.

Frequently Asked
Is the EXIN suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. It carries an IP65 rating, so it is weatherproof and can be used in exposed outdoor and wet locations, including walls that take direct rain. It is well suited to step edges, porches and garden walls.
How is it installed?
The EXIN is a recessed fitting that sets into the wall, sitting flush with the surface once fixed. A back box or recess is formed in the structure during the build or retrofit, and the unit drops into it. It runs from a standard 220-240V AC mains supply, so no separate low-voltage transformer is required.
What does the PIR sensor do?
The integrated PIR detects movement nearby and switches the light on automatically as someone approaches, then off again after they pass. This keeps the fitting dormant when no one is around while still marking the step the moment it is needed.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the black aluminium face and lens with a soft, damp cloth to clear dust, grit and weather residue, then dry it off. Avoid abrasive pads or solvents that could mark the finish or cloud the lens, and keep the PIR window clear so detection stays reliable.
