Eight AAA cells to a card, from the Eveready Gold line of alkaline batteries. AAA carries the IEC code LR03, so a device marked either way takes this cell. Each one gives a nominal 1.5V, the standard output for an alkaline cell of this size, and the chemistry is the general purpose one: a steady voltage under light to moderate drain and a long sit on the shelf between uses. The pack states that these last up to four times longer than carbon zinc, measured against the IEC minimum average duration for carbon zinc cells.

Alkaline chemistry suits light to moderate drain, so remotes, clocks and small torches are its natural home. Heavy continuous drain will empty any alkaline cell faster.
