These are Eveready Gold alkaline AAA cells, supplied as a retail box of thirty. AAA is the slim cell, narrower than an AA, and it is the size most small electronics take: television and set-top remotes, wall clocks, wireless mice and keyboards, kitchen scales and slim LED torches. Each cell gives a nominal 1.5 volts and carries the IEC code LR03, the designation moulded into a battery compartment or printed in a manual. Alkaline is the standard single-use chemistry, and the pack states these last up to four times longer than carbon zinc, measured on IEC minimum average duration.

A box of thirty is a household or small-office quantity rather than a checkout grab. It suits the kitchen drawer everything comes back to, and it suits the places that get through cells quickly: children's toys, a busy office full of wireless keyboards, a village hall, a holiday let where the remote control goes flat between guests. Buying at this size mostly saves the trip rather than the money. The Gold range also runs in AA, C, D and 9V, so a single drawer can be stocked consistently.
