Description

This is a card of six CR2025 lithium coin cells from Eveready, each one a 3V cell as marked on the pack. Lithium is the chemistry used for almost every coin cell of this size, and it gives a flat, steady voltage for most of the cell's working life rather than a slow fade, which matters in a device that either works or does not. The pack states the cells are ready to use up to 10 years in storage, so a spare set kept in a drawer should still be good when you come to need it, and the card is a child resistant pack that has to be cut open rather than pushed through.

CR2025 is one of the sizes that turns up constantly around the house and the car: key fobs, gate and garage remotes, kitchen scales, digital thermometers, calculators, tealights, bike lights and a great many watches all call for it. In the IEC numbering used on coin cells the four digits describe the size, so 2025 means 20mm across and 2.5mm thick. That is worth knowing, because 20mm coin cells come in more than one thickness and a thicker one will not sit under a lid built for this size. Check the code printed on the cell you are replacing, or on the inside of the battery door, and match all four digits rather than the first two.

The cells come on a card of six, and the minimum order is 10 cards, sold in multiples of 10, so one order brings 60 cells in. That suits a maintenance cupboard, a facilities store or a shop counter. Not reliably. Both are 20mm across, but the 2032 is thicker, so a 2025 can sit loose in the holder and lose contact. Match all four digits.
