Description

The ESP Fort door and window contact is a wireless magnetic sensor designed to work with the Fort Smart Alarm system. The sensor comprises two parts: a 67mm transmitter body containing the battery and wireless module, and a separate 25mm magnet that mounts on the moving part of the door or window. When the magnet moves away from the transmitter beyond the detection threshold, the sensor triggers an alarm signal to the Fort control panel.

Designed for perimeter security on doors, windows, French doors and patio doors in residential and light commercial properties, the contact detects both forced and normal opening. The wireless transmission removes the need for cable runs between the sensor and the control panel, making it suitable for retrofit installations where running cable through walls would be impractical. The sensor is battery-powered, with typical battery life depending on usage patterns and signal frequency.

The compact 67mm x 25mm x 85mm transmitter body mounts on the door or window frame using the supplied adhesive pads or screws, with the smaller magnet mounted on the moving edge of the door or window itself. The sensor aligns with the Fort Smart Alarm system's wireless protocol and reports both tamper alerts (if the transmitter is removed from its mount) and low battery warnings to the control panel. At 30g net weight, the sensor adds minimal mass to lightweight window frames.

Frequently Asked

Is this compatible with other alarm systems?

No. The Fort door and window contact uses a proprietary wireless protocol specific to ESP Fort Smart Alarm systems. It will not pair with third-party alarm panels or other manufacturers' systems.

How is the sensor powered?

The transmitter body runs on battery power. The exact battery type and expected life are detailed in the product manual. The Fort control panel will alert you when the battery is running low.

How far apart can the magnet and transmitter be when closed?

The magnet must be aligned with the transmitter body within a few millimetres when the door or window is closed. The exact gap tolerance is specified in the installation manual. Exceeding this gap will cause false alarms.

Can it be used outdoors?

The sensor is designed for internal door and window installations. For external doors opening to the outside, check the product manual for IP rating and suitability before installing in locations exposed to rain or condensation.
