The Energizer Power Plus D rechargeable batteries are 2500mAh nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) cells supplied pre-charged in a 2-pack. Each D-size cell measures 34mm diameter by approximately 61mm height and delivers 1.2V output, making them compatible with devices designed for standard 1.5V alkaline D batteries with allowance for the slightly lower NiMH voltage.

Designed for high-drain devices that cycle through disposable batteries quickly, these rechargeable cells can be recharged hundreds of times using a compatible NiMH charger. Common applications include emergency torches, portable radios, camping lanterns, larger children's toys, and battery-powered audio equipment. The 2500mAh capacity provides extended runtime compared to lower-capacity rechargeable D cells, reducing the frequency of recharge cycles in daily use.

The NiMH chemistry holds charge well during storage compared to older nickel-cadmium rechargeable batteries, though some self-discharge will occur over weeks or months when unused.
