Description

A two cell blister pack of Energizer Max C size alkaline batteries, the short fat cylinder that UK retailers also list under the code LR14. Each cell delivers the nominal 1.5 volts of an alkaline round cell, so it drops straight into anything whose compartment is marked C or LR14. The retail pack prints a 10 year shelf life, which matters most when you are buying spares rather than replacing something today: cells bought now and left in a drawer should still be worth fitting well into the next decade.

C cells sit between the AA in a television remote and the tall D cell in a lantern. Torches, portable radios, cordless door chimes, wall clocks with a strong mechanism, camping lanterns and a great many children's toys all take them, especially ride on toys and anything with a motor or a loudspeaker. If you are not sure, open the compartment and look at the moulded marking: a C cell is noticeably shorter and wider than a D, and the two are not interchangeable even though both give 1.5 volts. Yes. LR14 is the standard code for a C size alkaline cell, so any device with a compartment marked C or LR14 will take this battery.

How many cells do I get, and what is the smallest order?

Can these be recharged?

No. Alkaline cells are single use by chemistry, so replace them when they run flat rather than attempting to put charge back into them.

How long will they keep if I buy them as spares?

The pack prints a 10 year shelf life. Store them in the unopened blister at normal room temperature and away from loose keys or coins.

Can I mix these with the part used cells already in my torch?
