The Energizer Max AA is a 1.5V alkaline battery sold in a 12-pack blister for household, workshop and outdoor use. Each cell uses alkaline chemistry to deliver consistent voltage across the discharge curve, making them suitable for medium-drain devices like torches, wireless controllers, remote controls, wall clocks, digital thermometers and battery-powered toys.

The 12-pack format suits homes and workshops that stock batteries for multiple devices. The cells carry a 10-year shelf life when stored at room temperature, allowing them to be bought in bulk and drawn down as needed without degradation. Energizer's leak protection construction aims to prevent electrolyte leakage when batteries are left inside devices after draining, reducing the risk of corrosion damage to battery contacts and circuit boards.

Each AA cell measures 50.5mm in length and 14.5mm in diameter, fitting standard AA battery compartments in UK and international devices. The cells are manufactured using a percentage of recycled battery material as part of Energizer's material recovery programme. Voltage starts at 1.5V when fresh and drops gradually as the cell discharges, with most devices ceasing to operate once voltage falls below approximately 0.9V.

How long do these batteries last in storage?

Energizer Max AA cells carry a 10-year shelf life when stored at room temperature in their original packaging. Self-discharge is gradual, so batteries stored for several years retain most of their original capacity when first installed in a device.

What devices are these batteries suitable for?

AA alkaline batteries suit medium-drain devices including LED torches, wireless keyboards, remote controls, wall clocks, digital thermometers, wireless doorbells and most battery-powered toys. They are less suited to high-drain devices like digital cameras or camera flashes, where rechargeable NiMH cells perform better.

Are these batteries rechargeable?

What happens if a battery leaks inside a device?

If leakage occurs, remove all batteries immediately while wearing gloves. Clean the battery contacts with a cotton bud dipped in white vinegar or lemon juice to neutralise the alkaline electrolyte, then wipe dry. Dispose of leaked batteries according to local waste regulations and do not attempt to use them.
