Description

The Energizer CR2016 is a 3V lithium coin cell battery supplied in a 2-pack blister. Each cell measures 20mm diameter by 1.6mm height and delivers stable 3V output for compact electronics that require a CR2016 cell, including car key fobs, glucose monitors, fitness trackers, small LED torches and calculators.

Designed for devices with low to moderate continuous drain, the CR2016 uses lithium manganese dioxide chemistry to maintain voltage stability across the discharge curve. The 2-pack format provides a spare cell for emergency replacement or for powering a second device. Lithium cells operate across a wider temperature range than alkaline equivalents, making them suitable for outdoor devices and car remotes exposed to heat or cold.

Each cell weighs approximately 1.8g and is sealed in a corrosion-resistant stainless steel casing. The low self-discharge rate of lithium chemistry means unused cells retain charge for several years in storage. Energizer prints the expiry date on each cell and the blister packaging, with this batch showing a best-before date of 07/2029.

How long do CR2016 batteries last?

Shelf life is typically 8-10 years from manufacture when stored at room temperature. In-device life depends on the current draw of the electronics. A car remote used several times daily might run for 1-2 years, while a low-draw device like a glucose monitor backup cell may last 3-4 years.

Are these batteries rechargeable?

No. CR2016 lithium coin cells are single-use primary cells and cannot be recharged. Attempting to recharge a non-rechargeable lithium cell creates a safety hazard.
