Energizer Alkaline Power AAA Batteries (LR03) - 5 Pack

This is a five cell blister of Energizer Alkaline Power AAA batteries, sold as four cells plus one free, exactly as the pack marks it. AAA is the slim penlight cell, roughly the width of a pencil, and it carries the IEC code LR03 that you will sometimes find moulded into a device's battery compartment instead of the letters AAA. Each cell gives a nominal 1.5 volts, the standard output for alkaline chemistry, so it drops straight into anything asking for AAA, LR03 or a 1.5V cell of that size.

AAA is the cell that runs the small everyday things: television and set top box remotes, wall clocks, computer mice and keyboards, wireless doorbells, digital thermometers, kitchen scales, head torches and most battery powered toys. Alkaline suits that kind of duty well, because these are devices that draw a modest current over months rather than a heavy one over minutes. One habit worth keeping is to change every cell in a device at the same time and to keep to one chemistry throughout. How many cells do I actually get?

Is AAA the same thing as LR03?

Yes. LR03 is the IEC code for an alkaline cell of the AAA size, so a device marked LR03 takes these without any adapter or spacer.

What voltage does each cell give?

A nominal 1.5 volts per cell, which is the standard figure for alkaline chemistry. Four cells in series give the 6V that many remotes and toys expect.

Can these replace rechargeable AAA cells in the same device?

They fit the same holder, but rechargeable nickel metal hydride cells are 1.2V nominal rather than 1.5V. These are primary cells and must never be put on a charger.

Will they suit a high drain device such as a camera flash?

Alkaline is a general purpose chemistry that works best at low to moderate drain. The manufacturer publishes no capacity or drain figures for this pack, so we quote none.

How is the minimum order counted?

By pack, not by cell. The smallest order is 24 of these blister cards, in multiples of 24, which works out at 120 individual AAA cells.
