Description
The Energizer A23 is a 12V alkaline battery measuring 28.5mm x 10.3mm, designed for low-drain electronics that require compact power cells. Also marketed as MN21, LRV08, 23A and 23AE, the A23 uses eight stacked LR932 button cells in a single cylindrical housing to achieve its 12V nominal voltage.
The A23 fits car key fobs, garage door remote controls, wireless doorbells, remote car starters, small RF transmitters and security system key pads. These devices typically draw current intermittently in short bursts when a button is pressed, which suits the A23's alkaline chemistry better than continuous-drain applications. The battery provides stable voltage across its discharge cycle, maintaining reliable performance until depletion rather than gradually weakening.
This single-battery pack supplies one A23 cell. The battery arrives sealed in blister packaging with a printed best-before date visible on the card. Energizer's alkaline formulation provides a shelf life of several years when stored at room temperature, making the A23 suitable for drawer stock and occasional-use devices that may sit idle for months between button presses.

Frequently Asked
What devices use an A23 battery?
The A23 powers car key fobs, garage door remotes, wireless doorbells, security system keypads and small RF transmitters. Check the battery compartment of your device for compatibility — it may also list this battery as MN21, LRV08, 23A or 23AE.
How long does an A23 battery last?
Battery life depends on device current draw and usage frequency. In a car key fob used several times daily, an A23 typically lasts 1-2 years. In a wireless doorbell with occasional use, it may last 2-3 years. Devices left idle can retain charge for the battery's shelf life of several years.
Is the A23 rechargeable?
No. The A23 is a single-use alkaline battery and cannot be recharged. Attempting to recharge alkaline cells can cause leakage or rupture.
Can I use an A23 in place of other 12V batteries?
The A23 is physically smaller than other 12V batteries like the A27 or standard cylindrical cells. It fits only devices designed for the A23 form factor. Check your device's battery compartment dimensions before substituting.
