Description

The Knightsbridge LWBEMKIT is an emergency conversion kit designed to retrofit 3-hour battery backup into existing LWB 90W and LWB 165W low bay fittings. The kit consists of a pressed steel inverter housing measuring 188mm x 38mm x 29mm, a rechargeable NiCd battery pack, and wiring to connect the emergency circuit into the low bay fitting. Once installed, the kit maintains illumination for 3 hours during a mains power failure, meeting UK emergency lighting requirements for commercial and industrial premises.

The kit supports three operating modes: maintained (the emergency lamp is permanently lit during normal mains operation), non-maintained (the emergency lamp only illuminates during power failure), and switched (controlled by an external three-position switch). This flexibility allows the same kit to be configured for different applications depending on whether the space requires continuous emergency lighting visibility or prefers to activate emergency function only on power loss. Installation requires access to the low bay fitting's internal wiring and connection of the inverter module inside the fitting housing.

The IP20-rated inverter module is designed for indoor use in dry locations such as warehouses, industrial units, retail back-of-house areas, and storage facilities where the LWB low bay range is typically installed. The pressed steel housing withstands the heat generated inside a functioning low bay fitting without degrading the battery or inverter components. The kit carries a 3-year warranty on the inverter and electronics, with the battery excluded from warranty coverage as a consumable component requiring replacement after typical NiCd lifecycle depletion.

Frequently Asked

Which Knightsbridge low bay fittings is this compatible with?

The LWBEMKIT is designed specifically for the Knightsbridge LWB 90W and LWB 165W low bay fittings. It is not compatible with other low bay ranges or wattages outside the LWB series.

How long does the battery last during a power cut?

The NiCd battery pack provides 3 hours of emergency illumination from a full charge. The battery recharges automatically when mains power is restored.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The inverter module is rated IP20, which means it is suitable for dry indoor locations only. It is not protected against moisture or dust ingress and must be installed inside the low bay fitting housing in a weatherproof environment.

What's the difference between maintained and non-maintained modes?

In maintained mode, the emergency lamp runs continuously during normal mains operation and remains lit during power failure. In non-maintained mode, the emergency lamp only illuminates when mains power is lost. Switched mode allows an external three-position switch to control the operating mode.
