Ellen 3 Light G9 Semi Flush Ceiling Light 56cm - Satin Nickel

A shallow tier of clear crystal sits under a satin nickel frame, spreading light sideways as much as down. It measures 56cm across, so it reads as a broad disc on the ceiling rather than a hanging piece. Three G9 lamps sit within, and the cut crystal breaks their light into small bright points across the ceiling and the walls nearby.

We reach for this in rooms where a pendant would hang too low: a landing, a hallway with a door swing to clear, a bedroom with an ordinary ceiling height. The light is ambient with a bit of sparkle in it, which suits a dining room above a table, or a sitting room where you want general brightness without a bulky shape overhead. It will dim, given dimmable capsules and a dimmer, neither of which comes with it. Where the ceiling is tall enough to take one, a pendant may serve you better; this is for everywhere else.

The frame is finished in satin nickel, a soft grey sheen that keeps things quieter than polished chrome, and the crystal is clear throughout. Dust settles on cut glass faster than on metal, so with the power off and the lamps cold, run a dry lint-free cloth over each piece until the facets pick up light again; nothing wet, and no sprays. It belongs indoors, in rooms that stay dry. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same design in satin brass, and a wider five light version in both finishes, along with matching wall lights and table lamps if you want a room to hold together. Lamps are not included.

Which lamps should I fit?

Three G9 capsules, up to 33W each. We would fit LED capsules, which stay cooler behind the crystal and keep the running cost down. Lamps are not supplied.

How far does it sit below the ceiling?

It stands 330mm deep and spans 560mm across, so it clears head height in a hallway or on a landing while still filling the space above.

Can I put it on a dimmer?

Yes, provided the G9 capsules you fit are marked dimmable and are paired with a suitable dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the light.

How do I keep the crystal bright?

Switch the power off and wait for the lamps to go cold, then wipe each crystal with a dry, lint-free cloth. Avoid water, sprays and any cleaner with solvent in it.

Will it work in a bathroom or a porch?

No. It is made for dry rooms inside the house, so keep it away from shower zones, unheated outbuildings and anywhere exposed to weather.

Does it come in a larger size?

Yes. There is a wider five light version in the same range, offered in satin nickel and in satin brass.
