Description

The Ecliptus is a 5-metre 24V LED strip light delivering 20W output at 4000K cool white colour temperature. The strip runs on low-voltage 24V DC, requiring a separate driver (sold separately), and carries an IP20 rating for dry indoor environments only. The 10mm projection includes the silicone coating over the LEDs and the PCB strip itself.

Designed for under-cabinet lighting in kitchens, cove lighting, shelf edge-lighting and task lighting in offices or workshops, the 4000K colour temperature sits between warm white (2700-3000K) and daylight (5000K+), providing neutral illumination that doesn't shift colour perception. The strip is dimmable when paired with a compatible 24V LED dimmer controller, allowing output to be adjusted from full brightness down to low ambient levels depending on the time of day or task at hand.

The 5-metre continuous length can be cut to size at marked intervals along the strip, typically every 50-100mm depending on the LED density. Cut points are indicated on the PCB. The strip arrives on a reel and is self-adhesive on the reverse, allowing it to be pressed onto clean, dry, flat surfaces such as cabinet undersides, aluminium profiles or painted wall sections. The IP20 rating means the strip is not protected against moisture ingress, so it cannot be used in bathrooms, outdoors or anywhere condensation is likely.

Ideal Lux backs the Ecliptus with a 5-year warranty covering manufacturing defects. The strip consumes 4W per metre when run at full output, making it relatively efficient for task lighting compared to older fluorescent under-cabinet fittings. The 24V operating voltage reduces voltage drop over the 5m run compared to 12V strips, meaning brightness remains more consistent from start to end of the strip.

Does the strip come with a power supply?

No. The Ecliptus requires a separate 24V DC LED driver rated for at least 20W (or higher if you're running multiple strips). The driver converts mains 230V AC to 24V DC and must be matched to the total wattage of all strips connected to it.

Can the strip be cut to length?

Yes. The strip can be cut at marked intervals along the PCB, typically every 50-100mm. Cutting outside these marked points will damage the circuit and void the warranty.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the strip has no protection against moisture. It cannot be used in bathrooms, kitchens where steam is present, or any outdoor location. For bathrooms you need an IP44 or IP65 rated strip.

How is the strip installed?

The reverse of the strip has a self-adhesive backing. Clean and dry the surface, peel the backing tape, and press the strip into place. For aluminium profiles or longer runs, additional fixing clips are recommended to prevent sagging over time.
