Description

The Ecliptus is a 5-metre 24V LED strip light delivering 20W total power output at 3000K colour temperature. The strip carries surface-mounted LED chips on a flexible 10mm-wide silicone-backed PCB, making it bendable around corners and fittable into shallow recesses. The 24V low-voltage operation requires a compatible 24V LED driver (sold separately) and supports dimming when paired with a compatible dimmer.

Designed for indoor accent lighting, the Ecliptus suits under-cabinet installations in kitchens, cove lighting around ceilings, shelf backlighting, and stair nosing illumination. The IP20 rating means the strip has no moisture protection and must be installed in dry environments only. The 5-metre continuous length can be cut at marked intervals (typically every 50-100mm depending on chip density) to fit exact installation dimensions, with adhesive backing on the reverse allowing the strip to be pressed directly onto clean, dry surfaces.

The 3000K output sits in the warm white spectrum, producing a similar tone to traditional halogen bulbs without the yellow cast of 2700K or the clinical feel of 4000K+ daylight whites. At 20W across 5 metres the strip provides approximately 4W per metre, which translates to moderate brightness suitable for accent work rather than primary room illumination. The silicone backing provides better heat dissipation than cheaper paper-backed strips, extending LED lifespan. Ideal Lux rates the strip for a 5-year warranty when installed according to the fitting instructions.

The dimmable function requires both a dimmable 24V LED driver and a compatible dimmer controller. Not all 24V drivers support dimming, so check driver specifications before assuming compatibility. The strip requires a 24V LED driver rated for at least 20W output. If dimming is required, the driver must also be dimmable-compatible. The driver is sold separately and must match the total wattage of the installed strip length.

Can the strip be cut to length?

Yes. The strip has marked cutting points at regular intervals along its length, typically every 50-100mm depending on the LED chip spacing. Cutting outside these points damages the circuit and voids the warranty.

Is it suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use?

No. The IP20 rating means the strip has no moisture protection and is rated for dry indoor environments only. Bathrooms require IP65 or higher. For outdoor or wet-room use, see Ideal Lux's IP65-rated strip range.

How is the strip mounted?

The reverse of the strip carries adhesive backing. Peel the protective film and press the strip onto a clean, dry, degreased surface. For permanent installations or overhead mounting, supplementary clips or channels are recommended to prevent sagging over time.
