Description
The Ecliptus is a 5m LED strip light running on 24V DC, consuming 15W across the full length and delivering 3000K warm white light through surface-mounted diodes on a narrow 10mm-wide flexible PCB. The strip is encased in a silicone coating rated to IP65, meaning it resists dust ingress completely and handles low-pressure water jets from any direction, making it suitable for outdoor installations under eaves, bathroom mirror backlighting, and kitchen plinth lighting where occasional water exposure occurs.
Designed for permanent installation in residential and light commercial settings, the strip requires a separate 24V DC driver (sold separately) and connects via solderless terminals or direct soldering depending on the driver type. The dimmable output works with compatible 24V LED dimmers, allowing brightness adjustment from full output down to approximately 10% depending on the dimmer quality. Common applications include under-cabinet task lighting, cove lighting for indirect ceiling wash, garden path edging, deck step illumination, and architectural accent lighting where the strip needs to follow curves or tight corners.
The 3000K colour temperature sits in the warm white range, comparable to traditional halogen downlights, and pairs well with timber, brass, and warm-toned interiors without the yellow cast of 2700K or the clinical tone of 4000K. The silicone coating adds flexibility and impact resistance compared to rigid aluminium-profile LED strips, allowing the Ecliptus to bend around radiused surfaces with a minimum bend radius of approximately 50mm. The 5m length can be cut to shorter sections at marked intervals (typically every 50-100mm depending on diode spacing) if a full 5m run is not needed, though cutting voids the warranty on the unused section.
The IP65 rating protects against rain, splashes and hose-down cleaning, but the strip is not designed for full submersion (IP67 or IP68 would be required for underwater use). For outdoor installations, mount the strip in a location where water drains away rather than pooling against the silicone coating. The Ideal Lux warranty covers the strip for 5 years from purchase when installed and operated within the specified voltage and environmental parameters.

Frequently Asked
Does the Ecliptus come with a power supply?
No. The strip requires a separate 24V DC LED driver rated to at least 15W for the full 5m length. If you cut the strip shorter, you can use a lower-wattage driver proportional to the remaining length. Drivers are available separately at Niori — search for '24V LED driver' or contact us for a recommendation based on your installation.
Can the strip be cut to a shorter length?
Yes. The Ecliptus can be cut at marked intervals along the strip (typically every 50-100mm depending on diode spacing). Cut sections can be re-terminated with solderless connectors or by soldering new cable directly to the exposed copper pads. Cutting voids the warranty on any unused sections.
Is it suitable for bathroom use?
Yes, when installed outside of zones 0 and 1 (the shower enclosure itself and the area directly above a bath). The IP65 rating handles splashes and high humidity, making the strip suitable for behind-mirror accent lighting, under-vanity lighting, and plinth lighting in bathrooms. The 24V DC supply voltage is also safer than mains-voltage strip in damp environments.
How is the strip dimmed?
The Ecliptus requires a compatible 24V LED dimmer installed between the driver and the strip. Standard mains trailing-edge dimmers will not work — you need a low-voltage PWM or analogue dimmer designed for 24V LED strips. Dimmer compatibility depends on the specific models used; contact us for advice on pairing a driver and dimmer for this strip.
