Eaton 6 Light E14 Pendant Light 42cm - Polished Chrome

Clear glass shades sit on a polished chrome frame here, six of them arranged around a central stem so the light spreads outward rather than falling in a tight pool. The glass is left plain and untinted, which lets the shape of a candle lamp show through and keeps the whole piece looking light and open. Each socket takes an E14 candle lamp, and we would choose a flame tip here for the prettiest effect through the glass.

At 42cm across, it suits a dining table, a hall with a bit of height, or the middle of a sitting room where a single shade would look mean. The drop can be set short for an ordinary ceiling height or run long over a stairwell, so it copes with tall spaces as well as everyday ones. Fit dimmable lamps and it will dim, which is worth doing above a table where you want the level to fall away as the evening goes on. We reach for this one when someone wants a bit of sparkle without going the whole way to a chandelier.

Glass and metal throughout, with the chrome polished bright enough to pick up whatever light is already in the room. Keep it looking well by taking the dust off the glass with a dry duster and lifting fingermarks from the chrome with a barely damp cloth, dried straight away so nothing is left behind. It carries a one year warranty. The same design runs through the range in antique brass, in smaller and larger pendants, in semi flush fittings, and as a table lamp and a wall light, so a whole room can be worked up in one look. Lamps are not included.

What lamps does it take?

Six E14 candle lamps, up to 20W each. LED candles in the C35 or flame tip shape suit it best, and lamps are supplied separately.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and pair them with a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the pendant.

How far down does it hang?

The drop is adjustable between 880mm and 2340mm, with a body height of 700mm below the ceiling once set at its shortest.

How wide is it?

420mm across, which is a comfortable size over a dining table for four to six people.

How should the glass be cleaned?

Switch the power off and let everything cool first, then use a dry duster on the glass. For a smeared shade, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry one works well; avoid sprays and anything abrasive on the chrome.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20 and belongs in dry rooms such as dining rooms, halls and living rooms.
