Four clear glass shades sit on a polished chrome frame, each one holding a small candle lamp, so the light breaks up and scatters instead of pooling in a single spot. At 32cm across it reads as a compact chandelier: enough presence to hold a table, not so wide that it crowds a modest room. Clear glass keeps the whole piece visually light, and the polished chrome catches whatever else is bright nearby.

It works over a dining table, on a stair landing, or in a hall with height to spare, and the drop can be set short or long to suit the ceiling you have. We would put candle lamps with a flame tip in it, since the shape shows through clear glass and a stubby lamp looks awkward behind it. It gives ambient light rather than task light, so we would use it alongside a lamp or two wherever reading happens. The fitting will dim if you pair dimmable lamps with a compatible dimmer, though the dimmer itself is a separate purchase.

Glass and metal do all the work here, with the shades in clear glass and the frame, arms and ceiling plate finished in polished chrome. Clear shades show dust sooner than tinted ones, so give them a regular go with a dry lint-free cloth, and keep water and sprays away from the chrome so it stays bright. Isolate the supply at the wall switch and let the lamps cool before you handle any of the glass. It carries a one year warranty. How far down does it hang?

The drop can be set anywhere between 710mm and 1660mm, with a body height of 600mm, so it can sit low over a table or high in a stairwell.

Which lamps should I buy for it?

It takes four E14 candle lamps, up to 20W each. LED candles, either the C35 shape or a flame tip, suit it best because the lamp is visible through the clear glass.

Can I use it on a dimmer switch?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied with the fitting.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?

No. It is rated IP20, which makes it a fitting for dry rooms such as dining rooms, halls, landings and bedrooms.

How do I keep the glass looking clear?

Switch off at the wall, wait for the lamps to cool, then dust the shades with a dry lint-free cloth. Avoid household sprays and abrasives, which mark both glass and chrome.
