Description

Twelve E14 lamps sit behind clear glass on antique brass metalwork, giving a broad, ambient spread of light rather than one narrow downward beam. At 53cm across, it is a large fitting with genuine presence, and the clear glass keeps it looking lighter than the lamp count suggests. The drop adjusts over a long span, so it can hang close above a dining table or reach down into the well of a stairwell. We would fit warm white LED candle lamps, flame tip if you want a little sparkle picked up in the glass.

This is a fitting for rooms with height and something to fill: a dining room with a long table, a wide entrance hall, a landing lit by a tall window. It works best where you see it from below and from the side, since the glass is on show all round. Dimming is possible if you use dimmable lamps with a compatible dimmer, and with that many lamps overhead a dimmer earns its keep in the evenings. We reach for it where a single large shade would look heavy.

The metalwork is finished in antique brass, warm and slightly softened rather than bright, and the shades are clear glass throughout. Dust the glass with a dry lint free cloth and keep sprays and polishes away from the brass, which prefers being left alone to being buffed. It carries a one year warranty. The same design runs through the range in polished chrome, and if this size is too much for the room there are smaller pendants, semi flush fittings, table lamps and a wall light in the same range. Lamps are not included.
