Description

A slender tube of clear glass on a standard E27 cap, drawn out to 280mm and staying narrow along its whole length. Because the glass is clear rather than opal, the light source itself is part of the look, which is rather the point of a lamp shaped like this. The colour is a cool white at 4000K, clean and neutral rather than yellowish, and it draws 6W. It dims, though it needs a dimmer suited to LED lamps to do so smoothly, and no dimmer comes with it.

We would put this in any fitting that shows the lamp off: an open pendant over a kitchen island, a bare-lamp cluster above a dining table, a wall light with a cage or a half shade, or a run of them along a shelf in a workshop or a study. The tall, thin form suits tall fittings that a round lamp leaves looking half empty. The cooler tone works where you want clarity rather than cosiness, so kitchens, utility rooms, studios and desk lamps all take it happily.

Glass forms the body and the cap is the usual screw type, so it goes straight into anything already wired for E27. To clean it, switch off, let the glass go cold, then wipe along the tube with a dry lint-free cloth; sprays and kitchen cleaners leave streaks on clear glass and are best kept well away. It carries a three year warranty. Where the lamp is on view, we like it against brass, black or plain white metalwork, since the clear tube reads as one fine vertical line and lets the fitting keep its own shape. If you are mixing lamps across a cluster, we would keep the colour temperature the same throughout so the light stays even from one to the next.
