Description

A slim clear glass tube on an E27 cap, standing 185mm tall and narrow in the body, so it looks deliberate wherever the lamp itself is on show. The glass is left plain and untinted, which means the light source inside is visible and part of the effect. The output is a cool white at 4000K, clean and neutral rather than warm, and it draws only 4W. It dims, provided the circuit runs through a dimmer suited to LED lamps.

We reach for this one in open pendants, cage fittings and bare-holder wall lights, anywhere a shade would hide the lamp and spoil the point of it. The upright form suits a row of pendants over an island, a hallway fitting at eye level, or a workshop and utility space where a crisper light helps you see what you are doing. Because the light spreads all the way round the tube rather than throwing forwards, it works as well hanging low as it does upright in a table lamp. If you want the lamp to sit at a lower level in the evening, choose the dimmer switch with LED compatibility in mind; no dimmer comes with the lamp.

Construction is glass over a threaded metal cap, light in the hand and simple to handle. To clean, isolate the light at the switch, wait until the glass is cool to touch, then wipe with a dry lint-free cloth and refit; nothing wet and no cleaning sprays near the cap. It is intended for ordinary indoor fittings on a standard household circuit. It carries a three year warranty.
