A candle bulb is the tapered shape that suits chandeliers, wall brackets and any fitting where the lamp sits on show, and this one takes the larger E27 screw cap, known in the UK as ES. It draws 4W and gives 470 lumens, which the pack rates against a 40W conventional bulb, so it is a straight swap for an older 40W candle without the heat. The light is warm white at 2700K, the yellow leaning tone people associate with traditional bulbs, rather than the crisper white of a 4000K lamp. Straight LED filament strips run the length of the clear body.

The 280 degree beam spreads light almost all the way around the lamp, so it works in a pendant with an open or fabric shade, a multi arm chandelier, or a table lamp where you want light thrown into the room rather than down onto one spot. Check the cap before ordering: E27 is the bigger screw fitting, while E14 is noticeably narrower and will not screw in. A candle shape also gives useful clearance inside narrow shades, where a round GLS bulb can touch the fabric.

This lamp is not dimmable, so pair it with a standard on and off switch; a non dimmable lamp on a dimmer circuit can flicker or buzz. It runs on the usual 220 to 240V mains supply, carries an E energy rating, and is rated IP20 for ordinary indoor positions. The pack prints a 10 year lamp life. Each box holds two bulbs, and the minimum order is six boxes in multiples of six, so twelve bulbs at a time. Will this fit my existing light fitting?

It fits any holder that takes an E27 screw cap, sometimes marked ES. Unscrew the old bulb and check the thread: E27 is the wide screw, E14 is the narrow one.

Can I use it on a dimmer switch?

No. This lamp is not dimmable, so it needs an ordinary on and off switch. Fitted to a dimmer circuit it may flicker, buzz or fail early, whatever the dimmer is set to.

How bright is 4W next to an old filament candle?

It produces 470 lumens, and the pack rates that against a 40W conventional candle bulb, so you get similar brightness for roughly a tenth of the power draw.

What does 2700K warm white actually look like?

It is the soft yellow toned light of an old incandescent bulb, comfortable in living rooms, bedrooms and dining spaces, and warmer than the 4000K or 6500K versions of a candle lamp.

How many bulbs do I receive?

Each box contains two bulbs. The minimum order is six boxes, sold in multiples of six, which works out at twelve bulbs per order.

Will the filaments show through a clear shade?

Yes. The four straight filament strips sit behind a clear body, so this lamp is meant for open holders and shades where the bulb itself is part of the look.
