Description

A slender clear glass tube on a small screw cap, this is a lamp made to be looked at rather than hidden away. It draws 6W and gives a warm white 2700K light that carries all the way round the tube, so there is no dull side to turn towards the wall. It dims, provided the circuit has a dimmer suited to LED lamps, and no dimmer comes with it. We keep lamps like this one for the many fittings we sell with their lampholders left on show, where a plain opal globe looks like an afterthought.

The tall, narrow shape is the point of it. At 280mm it stands well clear of most shades and holders, which makes it a good choice for wall lights with the holder pointing upward, for open cluster pendants, for hall lanterns with glazed sides, and for mirror lights where the whole lamp is on view. The warm tone sits comfortably in sitting rooms, bedrooms and dining spaces, and on a dimmer it settles down to a low evening glow. It suits anyone who wants the light source itself to be part of the look.

The body is clear glass with a small screw cap, and the clear finish keeps the light crisp and the sparkle intact when it is used behind glass or under a metal shade. Fingerprints and dust show readily on clear glass, so a wipe with a soft dry cloth now and then, once the lamp is off and cold, keeps it looking right; skip sprays and solvents near the cap. It carries a three year warranty. We would pair it with brass or aged bronze wall lights, where the long line of the tube echoes the vertical of the arm, and use a matching pair either side of a mirror.

It dims only on a dimmer suited to LED lamps. Older resistive dimmers intended for filament lamps may flicker or buzz, and no dimmer is supplied with the lamp.
