Description

These are D cells, the largest of the common cylindrical battery sizes, supplied six to a pack. The chemistry is alkaline, and the cell carries the codes LR20 and MN1300 alongside the D marking on the pack front. Every alkaline cell of this size gives a nominal 1.5 volts, with the raised positive button at one end and the flat negative base at the other, so fitting is a matter of following the diagram moulded into your battery compartment. Plus Power is Duracell's general purpose alkaline line, and the pack carries the maker's 100% life guaranteed mark, asterisked to its own terms.

D is the size that turns up wherever a device needs to run for a long time or drive something physical: big rubber torches and camping lanterns, portable radios, door chimes and bells, older boom boxes, some ride-on toys, and the larger wall clock movements. The size is fixed by standard, so if the old cell reads D, LR20 or MN1300, or the compartment is marked with any of those, these drop straight in. Where a device takes two or more, change the whole set together rather than topping up one flat cell.

One pack holds six cells, which suits the common two, three and four cell compartments and leaves a spare or two in the drawer. Ordering works in multiples: the smallest order we can take is six packs, so 36 cells arrive together, which is the sort of quantity a caretaker, a village hall or a workshop gets through in a year.
