Description

The Duracell MN21 is a 12V alkaline battery supplied in a 2-pack, designed for small electronic devices requiring miniature power cells. Known by alternative codes A23, 23A, V23GA, LRV08 and 8LR932, the MN21 fits car key fobs, garage door remotes, wireless doorbells, security alarm sensors and pet collar locators.

Each battery measures approximately 28mm in length and 10mm in diameter, fitting the standard MN21/A23 cell format used across multiple device types. The alkaline chemistry provides stable 12V output across the discharge cycle, making these batteries suitable for devices that draw intermittent low current rather than continuous high drain. Typical applications include remote controls that spend most of their time in standby, transmitting only when a button is pressed.

Duracell's Duralock Power Preserve technology holds the charge for up to 5 years in storage, meaning unused batteries in the pack remain ready when a device unexpectedly runs flat. The blister pack protects the cells from moisture and physical damage until needed. The 2-pack format suits households keeping spare batteries for multiple key fobs or replacing both batteries in a device at once to avoid mixing old and new cells.

Frequently Asked

What devices use MN21 batteries?

MN21 batteries power car key fobs, garage door remotes, wireless doorbells, home security alarm sensors, and pet collar GPS locators. Any device requiring a 12V miniature alkaline cell marked MN21, A23, 23A, V23GA, LRV08 or 8LR932 uses this battery type.

How long do MN21 batteries last in a car key fob?

Battery life depends on usage frequency. In a typical car key fob used several times per day, an MN21 lasts 1-2 years. Fobs with additional features like proximity sensors or LED indicators may drain faster.

Can I store unused MN21 batteries?

Yes. Duracell's Duralock technology holds the charge for up to 5 years when the batteries are stored in their original blister pack at room temperature, away from heat and moisture.

Are MN21 and A23 batteries the same?

Yes. MN21, A23, 23A, V23GA, LRV08 and 8LR932 are alternative codes for the same 12V alkaline miniature cell. These batteries are interchangeable in devices specifying any of these codes.
