The Duma cushion is made from cotton velvet, a fabric with a dense, short pile that catches the light and gives depth to a plain black ground. Across its face march a scattered troop of embroidered cheetahs, their spotted bodies worked in gold and pale thread so they read clearly against the dark velvet.
