Description

This is a small scented candle poured into a round iron tin, with a lid that slips down over the top. Driftwood is the name of its scent. The tin is 6.5cm across and 5.7cm tall and holds 85g of soy paraffin wax around a single cotton wick, with a burn time of 20 hours. The whole candle weighs 0.16KG, so it is easy to pick up and move from room to room as the day goes on.

Being small, it suits the places a larger candle would crowd: a bedside table, the corner of a desk, a bathroom shelf beside the basin or a windowsill in a guest room. The lid is the practical part. A lid keeps dust off the wax between burns, and with it on, the candle packs neatly into a weekend bag for a night away. It also makes a good small present for a host, a friend who has just moved house or a Christmas stocking, and with its printed lid it looks finished without any extra wrapping.

The tin carries a painterly brushstroke pattern all the way round, and the lid wears its own printed label with a softer, dappled pattern, so the candle looks considered whether it is open or closed.
