Description

The Dravanne LED downlight is a round recessed ceiling light with a brushed satin nickel bezel around a deep-set lens, built on an aluminium body. It measures 8.8cm across, needs a 6.8cm cut-out and takes 4.6cm of recess depth, so it suits ceilings with only a shallow space behind the plasterboard. The light source is an integrated LED drawing 5W and giving 500 lumens, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. It is rated IP65, which means it is sealed against dust and protected from jets of water, so it is as much at home in a damp room as a dry one.

Because of that rating, we would suggest it for a bathroom or shower room, where a qualified electrician will confirm the right zone, as well as a kitchen, hallway or landing. Set in a line along a corridor or spaced across a kitchen ceiling, a run of them keeps the ceiling clean and uncluttered, and the satin nickel sits well beside brushed nickel taps and handles. The real gain is choice: there are three colour temperatures, chosen at the light itself, so you can pick a warm 2700K for a living room, a neutral 4000K for a kitchen or a crisp 6500K for a utility room.

The bezel has a fine brushed grain, and the lens sits deep inside it, which keeps the LED set back from view; spring clips hold the body in the ceiling. It is not dimmable and has no switch of its own, so it runs from your wall switch on a 220 to 240V, 50/60Hz mains supply. As a wired-in mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. It has an energy class of E and weighs 0.254KG packed.
