The Dralena is an LED flush ceiling light made of two interlocking rings that meet at a round central canopy, all in a black finish over an aluminium and steel body. A white plastic diffuser runs along the underside of each ring, so the light shows as a clean white band rather than a visible bulb. It measures 67.5cm long and 38cm wide, and sits just 6.5cm deep against the ceiling. The integrated LEDs draw 19.5W and give out 2,400lm, so there is no lamp to buy or change. It is rated IP20, which means indoors and dry: living rooms and bedrooms, never a bathroom or an outdoor wall.

Because it stays close to the ceiling and spreads its light across a wide footprint, the Dralena suits a living room, a dining room, a bedroom or a landing where a pendant would hang too low. What makes it worth a second look is the choice of moods from one fitting: the colour temperature runs from a warm 2700K to a crisp 6500K, so you can have a soft evening glow and a brighter, cooler white for reading or getting ready in the morning. The settings run from the remote control, which comes in the box. It dims the light, moves it between warm and cool white and switches to the RGB colours, and the memory function recalls your last setting the next time the light is switched on at the wall. There is no switch on the fitting itself, so it works from your existing wall switch, and the remote takes a CR2032 battery. Packed, it weighs 1.742KG. As a wired-in mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions are available as a download.
