Description
The Drako is a 220x90cm wall art piece constructed from multiple layers of golden-plated stainless steel mesh, each sheet laser-cut with a hexagonal cell pattern and hand-shaped into organic, overlapping forms. The layered mesh panels create a relief depth of 6cm, with each panel catching light differently depending on its angle and distance from the wall plane.
Designed for large horizontal wall runs in contemporary living rooms, above console tables in entrance halls, or as a gallery feature in hospitality lobbies, the Drako fills wide-format spaces where a single framed print would appear undersized. The 220cm width suits walls between 2.5-3.5m wide, typically positioned centrally at eye level (140-160cm floor-to-centre) or above a low sideboard at 180-200cm floor-to-centre. Fixing is via concealed brackets on the reverse that mount to wall plugs.
The golden plating over stainless steel gives a warm metallic finish that shifts tone through the day as natural and artificial light angles change. The hexagonal mesh pattern references organic structures (honeycomb, cellular tissue, coral) while the overlapping sheet arrangement creates an abstract landscape of peaks and valleys across the 220cm span. At 3.8kg total weight the piece requires secure wall fixings into masonry or timber studs rather than plasterboard alone.

Frequently Asked
What wall type does it require for mounting?
At 3.8kg the Drako requires secure fixings into masonry (brick, block, concrete) or timber studs. Plasterboard alone will not support the weight — use heavy-duty plasterboard anchors rated to at least 10kg, or locate studs and fix directly through the board into timber.
How is the golden finish maintained?
The golden-plated stainless steel can be dusted with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. For fingerprints or marks, use a barely-damp cloth with distilled water and dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners, metal polishes or chemical sprays that could damage the plating.
What wall colour works best behind it?
The Drako reads most clearly against neutral or cool-toned walls (white, off-white, light grey, charcoal). Against warm-toned walls (cream, beige, terracotta) the golden finish can blend and lose definition. The hexagonal voids in the mesh allow the wall colour to show through, so the background tone becomes part of the composition.
Can it be hung in a bathroom or humid environment?
The stainless steel core resists corrosion, but the golden plating may tarnish over time in high-humidity environments (bathrooms, coastal properties with salt air). For such spaces, confirm with us before ordering that the finish is suitable for your specific conditions.
