Description

This round stoneware jug holds 900ml and stands 16.5cm tall and 11.5cm across, a compact size for the middle of the table. Its multicoloured glaze runs in soft, uneven bands from the rim to the foot, pooling and thinning as it goes. The lower half of the body is marked with fine horizontal ridges you can feel under your fingers. A small pouring lip is pinched into the gently wavy rim, a looped handle sits opposite it, and the body widens towards the base for a settled, grounded look.

At 900ml this is a table jug rather than a little milk jug: big enough for water or juice at breakfast, lemonade on a summer afternoon in the garden, or gravy and custard passed round at Sunday lunch.
