Dawson Large Outdoor Wall Lantern - Black Oxide with Bronze Handle

The Dawson is a large outdoor wall lantern standing 556mm tall with a black oxide aluminium frame, bevelled glass panels on four sides, and a curved burnished bronze handle arching over the top. Inside the glass enclosure, two E14 candle bulbs (sold separately, max 40W each) sit on vertical candle sleeves, visible through the clear glass. The IP44 rating protects against rain and outdoor conditions on UK porches, garage walls and entrance columns.

Designed for larger exterior walls where a commanding presence is needed without overwhelming the building's proportions, the Dawson suits entrance porches on detached homes, driveway gate pillars, and wide garage door surrounds. The 243mm projection from the wall means the lantern sits proud of the building line, casting light down onto the wall and ground below. The bevelled glass panes distribute light cleanly in four directions rather than just forward, making the fitting effective for corner positions or pillars where light needs to spread around an obstacle.

The black oxide finish on the aluminium frame is a flat, low-sheen coating that resists salt air corrosion and weathering better than painted finishes, while the burnished bronze handle adds a contrasting warm tone without introducing brass into the palette. What does the IP44 rating mean for outdoor use?

IP44 protects against solid objects over 1mm and splashing water from any direction. The Dawson can be fitted on walls exposed to UK rain and wind but should not be installed in positions where it will be directly hosed down or submerged.

What bulbs does it take?

The lantern takes two E14 candle bulbs up to 40W each, sold separately. Most users fit warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional look visible through the clear glass.

How is it mounted to the wall?
