Description

A round bulkhead in anthracite, 27cm across, with a plain opal white diffuser that throws light out in every direction. The shape has been lighting doorways and yards for decades and it still looks right on a modern house. There is no hood and no cage over the front, just the ring, the shade and a shallow body that keeps the fitting tight to the wall. It takes an E27 lamp and comes unswitched, so it works from a wall switch or a sensor circuit.

We would put this above a back door, a garage side door or a passage between houses, where you want light on the step and nothing that draws the eye in daylight. It is sealed against dust and splashing water, so an exposed porch or an open garden wall is no trouble. With the right lamp and dimmer on the circuit it will dim, and it also sits happily overhead where a wall run is awkward. A warm LED candle lamp suits it best.

The body is finished in anthracite with the opal shade in white, a pairing that reads as quiet grey against brick, render and painted timber alike. Keep the maximum lamp rating to 20W. For cleaning, brush cobwebs off the underside and wipe the shade with a cloth wrung out in warm water once the weather turns, and check the seal sits flat when you change a lamp. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the plain version in sand white as well, and the same round body comes with an eyelid hood or a framed front if you want a little more shape on the wall. Lamps are not included.
